While shopping at an outside market, youthful columnist Tintin (Jamie Bell), joined by his dependable canine, Snowy, purchases a model of an old ship called the Unicorn. An obscure character named Sakharine (Daniel Craig) and later an American named Barnaby (Joe Starr) endeavor to purchase the model from him, however Tintin can't. The fellow finds that the ship contains a sign about a concealed fortune, yet before he can find it, Tintin is grabbed and offered over to the guardianship of smashed Capt. Haddock (Andy Serkis).
